Issues that mark the way
Collectors measure time in issues, so we tell our history that way too.
The first long box
Self-published comics from Cape Town and Johannesburg artists, many photocopied and stapled by hand. Most sold to students from the university up the road, who came back asking for the next instalment before the artists had drawn it.
The first signing
A local creator sat at the door counter on a Saturday morning and signed until the queue reached the corner. Signings became a monthly event and grading advice followed, because new collectors wanted to protect what they had bought.
The first courier parcel
A reader in Polokwane asked if we could post a back issue. Parcel packing, bags and boards, and nationwide delivery all followed from that request.
The shop now
The door counter has retired to the back room, but the shop still stocks local titles alongside collector supplies, pins and prints. We help build collections, value back issues and track down missing numbers. Those two long boxes are still on the floor, now full of new work by artists who were children when we opened.
